Description

A points failure at Heworth means all lines are blocked. Trains running between Sunderland and Newcastle may be revised, delayed until lines reopen or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 19:30.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Sunderland and Newcastle (in both directions).

Northern services between Darlington and Saltburn are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on Tyne & Wear Metro services at no extra cost between Sunderland and Newcastle.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
