Description
The Met Office are advising that heatwave conditions are forecast for parts of England and Wales between Friday 19 and Monday 22 June.
Temperatures are expected to reach the high 20°Cs quite widely during this period, with the potential to see highs of between 30-32°C on both Friday and Sunday. This is expected to primarily impact south, east and south-east England, along with parts of London. Some parts of Wales are also expected to see high temperatures.
Saturday is expected to be cooler, whilst Monday is expected to see further periods of hot weather and high temperatures. The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also cause rails to buckle.
Advice for customers:
Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.
Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and some other larger stations.
If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.
Further information can be found on our Hot Weather page.
