Hot weather may impact your journey in some areas of England and Wales this week - advice if you are travelling

Description

The Met Office are advising that temperatures are expected to be above average for the time of year with highs of 28°C anticipated in London, and 26°C in various areas of England and Wales, and will then remain high well into next week.

The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle.

Advice for customers:

Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.

Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and at some other larger stations.

If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.

Current disruptions related to heat:

• Buses replace trains between Hednesford and Rugeley Trent Valley between 13:00 and 20:00 today and Friday 24 July
