Hot weather forecast across England, Scotland and Wales this week - check before you travel

Description

The Met Office are forecasting that temperatures will be above average for the time of year this week, with another heatwave anticipated across England and Wales.

Some areas, particularly in southern England and Wales, may see temperatures peaking as high as 38°C midweek. An amber weather warning is in place for extreme heat across parts of central England for Thursday.

Be aware that the areas covered by an amber weather warning may change as the situation evolves.

Temperatures in Scotland are expected to be considerably cooler than the rest of the United Kingdom, but will still see highs of 28°C.

If travelling across the National Rail network, please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey.

Advice if you are travelling this week:

Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey. The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.

Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and at some other larger stations.
