Description

All lines have now reopened following earlier overrunning engineering works between Manchester Piccadilly and Huddersfield. Trains running between these stations may continue to be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until 09:00.

The following alternative travel arrangements will remain in place for customers affected by the earlier disruption:

If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any TransPennine Express service within the two hours before or after your cancelled service.

To help you complete your journey rail replacement transport has been requested as follows:

From Manchester towards Huddersfield:

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Huddersfield at 07:40, calling at Stalybridge, Mossley, Greenfield, Marsden and Slaithwaite

From Huddersfield towards Manchester:

  • Huddersfield to Manchester Piccadilly at 06:05, calling at Slaithwaite, Marsden, Greenfield, Mossley and Stalybridge


Further rail replacement transport may be requested, TransPennine Express will work with their rail replacement providers and confirm this when we are able.

Travelling from Leeds to Huddersfield, or Huddersfield to Leeds?

Rail Replacement transport is already running, due to the ongoing TransPennine Route Upgrade, between Leeds and Huddersfield, in both directions. You can use your ticket, at no extra cost to travel on these services.


To assist with your journey today, you may also use your TransPennine Express tickets at no extra cost on the following services in both directions:

  • Any alternative TransPennine Express service between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester / Leeds

  • Northern services between

    • Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly / Manchester Victoria

    • Manchester Victoria and Leeds

    • Leeds and Hull / Redcar Central and Eaglescliffe / Darlington

  • TransPennine Express services and East Midlands Railway services between Liverpool Lime Street / Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield. From Sheffield, you can connect with Northern and CrossCountry services to Leeds

  • You can also travel on TransPennine Express services to Doncaster to connect with LNER services to York, Newcastle and Edinburgh

  • Metrolink Trams between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Victoria and Oldham until 09:00


Alternatively, the Bee Network operates a free bus every 10 minutes between Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly.
