Description

Some lines have now reopened following a points failure at Ilford. As service recovers, trains running between Whitechapel and Shenfield may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Customer advice:

Passengers may wish to take alternative routes to complete their journeys.

Services are currently running on platform 1 at the following stations - please follow staff instructions and listen to announcements:

  • Chadwell Heath

  • Seven Kings

  • Goodmayes

  • Ilford

Ticket acceptance:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following alternative train and underground services:

  • London Underground services via any reasonable route

  • c2c services between London Fenchurch Street and Upminster

  • London Overground (Liberty line) services between Romford and Upminster

Bus options:

Whilst this disruption is ongoing, buses are a simple and direct alternative. You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the below bus operators:

Bus options by area:

  • From Stratford: 8, 25, 86, 104, 241, 308 → Central London and local connections

  • From Ilford / Maryland / Forest Gate: 25, 86 → Stratford (London) or Central London corridors

  • From Romford: 86 → Stratford (London); then continue your journey by bus to Holborn, Bank, or the West End

Additional information:

Engineers have been arranged to attend the location of the fault and staff are waiting for an update on how long it will take to the fix the problem. While the fault is dealt with, some services may have to run at a reduced speed or may be diverted around the issue using an alternative line.

Track engineers may need to take a block of the line to replaced a damaged part and testing may be required to ensure the line is safe for the normal running of trains. We will provide you with regular updates and inform you when the line has reopened.
