Description

Following a tree obstructing the railway in the Irlam area earlier today, lines between between Manchester Oxford Road and Warrington Central have reopened.

As services recover, trains between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 25 minutes or revised.

This is expected until 18:00.

TransPennine Express customer advice:

Where possible, TransPennine Express services may divert between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street (in this direction only). Trains that divert will therefore be unable to call at Urmston, Irlam, Birchwood, Warrington Central, and Liverpool South Parkway.

You can use your tickets at no extra cost on the following services:

  • Alternative TransPennine Express services between Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Lime Street

  • East Midlands Railway services between Sheffield and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Metrolink services between Manchester piccadilly and Manchester Victoria in both directions (until 18:00)

  • Northern services between Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Transport for Wales between Manchester Piccadilly and Warrington Bank Quay (until 18:00)

  • TransPennine Express / Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly / Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street


Please note, it is an approximate 20 minute distance from Warrington Bank Quay and Warrington Central.

You should continue to travel as planned, however, your journey may be disrupted.
