Description
A fault on a train between Bolton and Salford Crescent means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between Bolton and Manchester may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, diverted or revised.
We expect this disruption to continue until 17:30.

Services between Bolton and Salford Crescent are being disrupted due to a fault on a train.
Engineering staff are working to rectify the issue.
How does this affect my journey?
Train services are unable to run between Bolton and Salford Crescent (in this direction only).
Services on the following routes may be affected by this disruption:
Between Clitheroe and Rochdale: these trains will divert via Todmorden where possible
Between Blackpool North and Manchester Airport
Between Southport and Manchester Oxford Road / Stalybridge
Between Windermere and Manchester Airport
What should I do?
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
You can also travel on Transport for Greater Manchester bus services at no extra cost between Manchester, Bolton and Salford on the following services:
V1, V2, 8, 36, 37, 607, 608, 609, 35, 132, 615, 575, 576, 516 and 615
You can also travel on Transport for Wales services at no extra cost between Manchester Airport and Manchester Oxford Road in both directions until further notice.
Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Road transport will operate as follows:
From Preston to Bolton at 16:30 operated by Bestway.
From Bolton to Preston at 15:45 operated by Bestway.
From Manchester Victoria to Bolton at 16:15 operated by DHR
From Bolton to Manchester Victoria at 16:15 operated by S Line
Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
