Description

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Downham Market and Kings Lynn means that all lines are blocked. Trains running to / from these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

Trains that usually run between London Kings Cross and King's Lynn will instead run between London King's Cross and Downham Market or Ely only. If you have not yet started your travel, we recommend delaying your journey or seeking alternative arrangements where possible.

As a result, the below stations will not receive a train service for the remainder of the day:

• Watlington

Confirmed rail replacement buses:

Replacement buses have now been secured to run between Downham Market and King's Lynn (calling at Watlington):

• 21:15: Expected to arrive at King's Lynn (Operated by Britannia)

• 22:15: Expected to arrive at Downham Market (Operated by Coaches of Langtoft)

These buses will then shuttle between Downham Market and Kings Lynn. Great Northern are continuing to work with their suppliers to secure additional coaches and increase capacity on this route.

Please be aware that replacement bus journeys will take significantly longer than standard train journeys.

Trains are unable to run between Downham Market and Kings Lynn due to a fault with the overhead electric wires. All lines are blocked to allow Network Rail engineers to access the track and safely inspect the equipment.

This safety check is required to prevent further damage to trains and railway infrastructure. Network Rail specialist teams, alongside the control room team, are investigating the cause and working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.
