Description

Lines have reopened following a fault on a train in the Lancaster area. Trains through this station may still be cancelled, severely delayed by over 90 minutes or revised whilst service recovers.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on TransPennine services between Preston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh and on Scotrail services between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

If you no longer wish to travel because your train's delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

  • Avanti West Coast services Edinburgh and Glasgow Central and Preston

  • Northern services between Oxenholme Lake District and Lancaster / Preston

Rail replacement transport has been requested to run between Carlisle and Preston via Penrith North Lakes, Oxenholme Lake District and Lancaster, and also between Oxenholme Lake District and Preston via Lancaster. Further details will follow once confirmed.

Journey times may be extended by 90 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
