Lines reopened: disruption between Littlehampton and Worthing expected until 20:00

Description

Lines have reopened following a fault on a train between Littlehampton and Worthing. Train services running to and from these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 20:00.

If you are travelling between Littlehampton and Worthing in the direction towards Brighton, lines have now reopened. This was due to a fault on a train in the Angmering area earlier.

Your journey may be subject to residual delays or cancellations. You should continue to allow an additional 30 minutes extra to reach your destination.

If you are travelling this evening:

Some services that usually run between London Victoria and Littlehampton will now divert via Arundel on the Arun Valley. Services in the other directional may be subject to residual delays. Services which are being diverted will extend travel times by up to an additional 30 minutes.

Some services between Brighton and Southampton will now run between Littlehampton and Southampton Central only. For passengers travelling to stations between Brighton and Littlehampton, please use local Stagecoach buses where your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost.

Some services between Brighton and Chichester / Portsmouth Harbour will now run between Brighton and Worthing / West Worthing. For passengers travelling between Worthing and Chichester please use local Stagecoach buses where your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost.

• Alternative Southern and Thameslink services on any reasonable route

• Stagecoach

  • Route 701 - Lancing, East Worthing, Worthing, West Worthing, Goring by Sea, Durrington (Town), Angmering (Town), Littlehampton

  • Route 11 - Worthing, West Worthing, Goring by Sea, Littlehampton

Please note that using these alternatives will extend your journey times by an additional 60 minutes, especially if your journey includes replacement road transport.

A train had developed a fault earlier in the Angmering area. The nature of the issue meant it couldn't move, so it was blocking the line through this area towards Brighton.

All lines have now reopened. Whilst Southern work to to return their service to a operating timetable, you should continue to allow an additional 30 mins to complete your journey.
