Description

The Met Office are advising that heatwave conditions are forecast for parts of England and Wales with temperatures expected to remain high until at least Saturday 27 June.

The hot weather is set to be widespread over England and Wales, and highs of up to 38°C are possible in some areas. An amber weather warning has been issued for extreme heat covering parts of England and Wales from Monday 22 to Thursday 25 June.

Due to the forecasted high temperatures across the LNER route over the coming days, they will be introducing temporary travel easements to support customers in completing their journeys more comfortably.

Tuesday 23 June

  • Customers booked to travel on Tuesday 23 June, may travel on an earlier LNER service on the same day. It is recommended that you travel before 12:00 where temperatures are expected to be cooler

  • Alternatively, LNER tickets dated Tuesday 23 June can be used on any LNER service on Monday 22 June

  • If you have connecting services with another operator, please check with them directly as to what their travel advice is

  • If you’d prefer to travel on an earlier service or a different date, you don’t need to change your ticket – it will be valid on the services listed above. It is recommended that you book a new seat reservation, which you can do free of charge

  • LNER customers booked to travel on the 23 June – if you no longer wish to travel, you can claim a full refund from your point of purchase

Wednesday 24 June

  • Customers booked to travel on Wednesday 24 June, may travel on an earlier LNER service on the same day. It is recommended that you travel before 12:00, where temperatures are expected to be cooler

  • Alternatively, LNER tickets dated Wednesday 24 June can be used on any LNER service on either Monday 22 June or Friday 26 June

  • If you have connecting services with another operator, please check with them directly as to what their travel advice is

  • If you’d prefer to travel on an earlier service or a different date, you don’t need to change your ticket – it will be valid on the services listed above. It is recommended that you book a new seat reservation, which you can do free of charge

  • LNER customers booked to travel on the 23 June – if you no longer wish to travel, you can claim a full refund from your point of purchase

Thursday 25 June

  • Customers may travel on an earlier LNER service on the same day. It is recommended that you travel before 12:00 where temperatures are expected to be cooler

  • If you’d prefer to travel on an earlier service or a different date, you don’t need to change your ticket – it will be valid on the services listed above. It is recommended that you book a new seat reservation, which you can do free of charge

  • LNER customers booked to travel on the 23 June – if you no longer wish to travel, you can claim a full refund from your point of purchase

Monday 22, Friday 26 and Saturday 27 June

  • Customers should travel on their booked LNER service as planned

Additional advice to ensure a safe and comfortable journey:

Please carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and some other larger stations.

If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.
