Description

All lines have reopened between Watford Junction and Clapham Junction / London Euston following the emergency services dealing with an incident. Trains may still be delayed by up to 45 minutes or cancelled whilst service recovers.

Major disruption is expected until 12:00.

Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:

Tickets will be accepted on the following routes:

  • Chiltern Railways between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone

  • LNER between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross

  • London Northwestern Railway between Crewe and London Euston / Birmingham New Street and London Euston

  • TransPennine Express between Lancaster / Doncaster and Manchester stations

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

Advice for London Northwestern Railway customers:

Replacement buses have been requested. We will provide further information once more is known.

If you chose to drive your car and park at a station on one of the routes below because of this disruption, your rail ticket will be valid to travel back to the same station later in the day to collect your car.

Your ticket can be used, at no extra cost, with the following routes:

  • Avanti West Coast between Crewe and London Euston, and also between Crewe and Rugby

  • Chiltern Railway between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Reading (to connect with Great Western Railway services to London Paddington)

    • Between Birmingham and Leicester (to connect with East Midlands Railway services to London St Pancras International)

    • Between Tamworth and Derby (to connect with East Midlands Railway services to London St Pancras International)

    • Between Stoke-on-Trent and Birmingham

  • East Midlands Railway between Crewe and Derby and also between Derby and London St Pancras International

  • London Northwestern Railway between Bedford and Bletchley, and also between St Albans Abbey and Watford Junction

  • Great Western Railway between Worcester and London Paddington

  • West Midlands Railway between Worcester and Birmingham New Street, and also between Nuneaton and Leamington Spa

  • Thameslink between Bedford and London St Pancras International

  • Southern between Watford Junction and Kensington Olympia

  • London Underground:

    • Metropolitan Line: London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International - Euston Square - Baker Street - Chesham - Rickmansworth - Watford Tube - Amersham

    • Circle / Hammersmith & City line: London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International - Euston Square - Baker Street (for London Marylebone) - London Paddington

  • London Overground between Watford Junction and London Euston

Advice for Southern customers:

Southern services that run between East Croydon / Clapham Junction and Watford Junction will instead run between East Croydon / Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush only.

The first services to run will be later this morning, as below:

  • 11.10 from East Croydon (11.40 from Clapham Junction) to Watford Junction

  • 11.52 from Watford Junction to East Croydon

In the meantime, for journeys to Wembley Central, Harrow & Wealdstone or Watford Junction, you'll need to use an alternative route.

Journeys will take around 20-30 minutes longer than usual as a result, so please allow plenty of extra time.

Your Southern ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:

  • London Overground services between Willesden Junction and Clapham Junction and also between Watford Junction and London Euston

  • Avanti West Coast between Watford Junction and London Euston

  • London Northwestern Railway between Tring and London Euston - for Wembley Central, Harrow and Wealdstone, Watford Junction, and also between Watford Junction and St Albans Abbey - for services towards London St Pancras International

  • London Underground on any reasonable route across Central, North and West London

  • London Buses on any reasonable route between Watford Junction and Shepherds Bush / Watford Junction

  • Alternative Southern services between London Victoria and Clapham Junction, to connect with London Underground

If your journey includes replacement road transport, your journey will take up to an additional 30 minutes, so please allow for extra time to reach your destination.
