A number of separate incidents are currently impacting services across the Great Northern, Thameslink, and Southern networks.

As a result, trains may be cancelled, delayed or revised.

Disruption is expected until 22:00.

Customer advice:

If you are travelling now, please allow at least an extra 30 to 45 minutes to complete your journey. You may need to take a different service than usual or change trains at an intermediate station to reach your destination.

Incidents affecting services

• A fire on property near the railway has closed the line between Mitcham Junction and Sutton

• A person was hit by a train earlier today between Potters Bar and Welwyn Garden City, causing major residual disruption and cancellations across Great Northern and Thameslink routes

• Earlier Trespass Incident at London St Pancras International which has caused widespread residual delays across the Thameslink network

• Earlier Trespass Incident in the Bromley South area in residual delays to Thameslink services between London and Sevenoaks

How are services being impacted:

Thameslink Brighton to Cambridge services are currently suspended in both directions.

Great Northern Moorgate to Welwyn Garden City services are now being re introduced where possible.

Great Northern Moorgate to Stevenage are running but some services are amended to run non stop through intermediate stations.

Thameslink services between Sutton and St Albans will be suspended or run via Wimbledon only

Southern services between London Victoria and Dorking / Horsham via Sutton will be diverted via West Croydon increasing journey times by 20 minutes

Southern & Thameslink: Selected services will make additional stops at Coulsdon South, Merstham, and Three Bridges to cover cancelled services at these stations.

Late-running trains across the Great Northern, Thameslink and Southern routes may be revised at short notice. This means they may not stop at all scheduled stations, or they may terminate part of the way along their usual routes.

Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink are working hard to get trains and crews back to their correct locations. Because the railway in multiple areas was closed for a period of time, restoring the full timetable will take time.

Great Northern, Southern and Thameslink will return to normal running as swiftly as possible. While recovery is underway, service advice may change. Please continue to check online journey planners, monitor station departure boards, and listen for announcements while travelling.

Mitcham Junction to Sutton Emergency services are dealing with a fire on property adjacent to the railway. For the safety of passengers, train crews, and firefighters, power to the tracks has been isolated and services are suspended between Mitcham Junction and Sutton until the London Fire Brigade confirms it is safe to reopen the line.

Earlier person Hit by a train between Potters Bar and Welwyn Garden City Emergency services and Network Rail teams attended to a serious incident earlier today. While all lines have now reopened, severe congestion, displaced trains, and crew displacement mean residual delays and cancellations will continue across Great Northern and Thameslink routes into the evening

Earlier trespass incidents London St Pancras International and Bromley South: Trains were temporarily stopped and electrical power isolated while police and staff safely removed individuals from the railway in separate incidents at London St Pancras International and Bromley South. All lines have reopened, but services are experiencing knock-on delays while timetables recover.
