Description

Following a fault on a train at Deansgate, all lines have now reopened. Whilst service recovers, trains running in the Manchester area may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

You should continue to travel as originally planned, however your journey may be delayed.

Liverpool Lime Street - Manchester - Sheffield

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on TransPennine Express services between Leeds and Manchester / Liverpool, and Northern or CrossCountry services between Sheffield and Leeds. This will extend your journey by approximately 1 hour 15 minute.

Manchester Airport - Liverpool Lime Street - Warrington Central

You may use your ticket at no extra cost with Northern to travel between Manchester Airport and Liverpool, and Liverpool and Warrington Central. This will extend your journey by approximately 1 hour 20 minute.

Nottingham – Norwich

You may travel may travel on East Midlands Railway services to London St Pancras then use Greater Anglia services from London Liverpool Street to Norwich. This is likely to take between 2 and 3 hours longer to complete this journey.

Norwich – Peterborough – Ely

You may travel on Greater Anglia services between Norwich and Ely.

Ely – Leicester - Nottingham

You may use your ticket on CrossCountry services in both directions between Ely and Leicester. You should change at Leicester and use East Midlands Railway services towards Nottingham.

All of these alternative route options are available in the opposite direction too. Don’t worry about your ticket; other train operators are aware of the disruption to your journey, and your ticket can be used at no extra cost on their trains.

Bus replacement services.

A replacement bus service is running in both directions between Manchester Piccadilly, Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street. These buses will run as shuttles between these stations. Please speak to a member of staff for help. These buses will also serve intermediate stations where required.

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on TransPennine Express services at no extra cost between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
