Description

A fault with the signalling system between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport means all lines are blocked. As a result, trains between these stations may be cancelled, severely delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport are being disrupted due to a fault with the signalling system.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport (in both directions).

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on Metrolink services at no extra cost between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport.

You can also travel on Bee Network bus services at no extra cost listed below;

  • 7, 11, 42A, 42B, 43, 192, 103, 310, 313, 368, 370, 371,378

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:

The following road replacement transport will be provided, at no extra cost, to help you complete your journey:

  • A coach operated by Bestway will depart Manchester Piccadilly at 21:20 calling at stations to Manchester Airport

  • A coach operated by Bestway will depart Manchester Airport at 21:20 calling at stations to Manchester Piccadilly

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (excluding service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.

To help you complete your journey ticket acceptance has been agreed with Metrolink between Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport at no extra cost.
