Description

An operational incident between Leeds and Micklefield means that some lines will be blocked.

As a result, trains running between Leeds and York via Church Fenton, and between Leeds and Selby in the westbound direction will be cancelled or revised until 15:30 today.

Disruption is expected to then continue until 17:30.

CrossCountry customer advice:

Some northbound services will be diverted, and therefore not serve Wakefield Westgate or Leeds.

If you are travelling to Wakefield Westgate and Leeds, your ticket can be used at no extra cost, and without needing to amend your ticket, on the following services:

• You can alight at York and board a southbound CrossCountry or TransPennine Express services to Wakefield Westgate, Wakefield Kirkgate or Leeds

• You can alight at Sheffield and board Northern services to Wakefield Westgate, Wakefield Kirkgate or Leeds

If you are travelling from Wakefield Westgate and Leeds, your ticket can be used at no extra cost, and without needing to amend your ticket, on the following services:

• Northbound CrossCountry services from Wakefield Westgate or Leeds towards Edinburgh that can divert via Castleford to York

• TransPennine Express services from Wakefield Kirkgate to York

• TransPennine Express services from Leeds to Middlesborough or from Leeds to Newcastle

Wakefield Kirkgate station is a short distance from Wakefield Westgate station.

Northern customer advice:

Services between Leeds and York, and Leeds and Hull are being disrupted due to an operational incident that occurred yesterday.

Network Rail staff are due on site today at 09:30 to undertake repair work which is expected to take 6 hours to complete.

How does this affect my journey?

Services can operate as normal this morning until 09:30. From 09:30 until 15:30, Northern services will be unable to run from Leeds towards Cross Gates (in this direction only), but services will be affected in both directions.

Northern services between Leeds and York via Harrogate are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on TransPennine Express services at no extra cost between Leeds and York, and Leeds and Hull.

Some TransPennine Express services towards Leeds will call additionally at Cross Gates to pick up Northern passengers.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will be operated by J&B as follows:

• From Leeds to Selby, calling at all stations, at 10:00, 11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00 and 15:00

• From Selby to Leeds, calling at South Milford then setting passengers down as required for station towards Leeds, at 09:55, 10:55, 11:55, 13:05, 13:55 and 15:55

Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

You can use your tickets at no extra cost on the following services, in both directions:

• Alternative TransPennine Express services between York and Leeds and Manchester and Liverpool

• CrossCountry services between Newcastle and Leeds

• Northern services on the following:

  • Leeds and York

  • Leeds and Hull
