Description

Signalling staff being taken ill between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe means trains are unable to run between these stations. Trains between Middlesbrough and Whitby will be cancelled or revised to not run between these stations.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

What's happened?

From 18:00 until the end of the day, services between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe / Whitby will be suspended due to a member of signalling staff being taken ill.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services will be unable to run between Middlesbrough and Whitby (in both directions).

Services on the following routes will be affected by this disruption:

• Between Newcastle and Nunthorpe - Services will be terminated at and restarted back from Middlesbrough

• Between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe / Whitby - Services will be cancelled

Northern services between Bishop Auckland / Darlington and Saltburn are not affected.

Road transport:

Road transport has been requested to operate between Middlesbrough and Nunthorpe / Whitby in place of cancelled services. More information will be provided once operators and timings have been confirmed.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Please note that rail replacement buses are likely to be very busy. In addition, journey times will be extended whilst travelling by road transport.
