Between Manchester Airport / Lancaster / Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle

Description

An obstruction on the track at Millom means that all lines are blocked. Trains are unable to run between Millom and Corkickle.

Disruption is expected until 16:00.

Customer advice:

Services between Millom and Corkickle are being disrupted due to an obstruction on the track.

Network Rail staff are now on site and are working to resolve the issue.

Train services are unable to run between Millom and Corkickle (in both directions).

Services on the following routes will be affected by this disruption:

  • Between Barrow-in-Furness and Corkickle

  • Between Lancaster and Corkickle

Northern services between Barrow-In-Furness and Lancaster are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following:

  • Avanti West Coast services between Lancaster and Carlisle in both directions

  • TransPennine Express services between Lancaster and Carlisle in both directions

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will be operated by KT's and Workington Transport Heritage Trust as follows:

  • From Millom to Whitehaven, calling at Silecroft, Bootle, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Drigg, Seascale, Sellafield, St Bees, Corkickle and Whitehaven at 15:45

  • From Whitehaven to Millom, calling at Corkickle, St Bees, Sellafield, Seascale, Drigg, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Bootle, Silecroft and Millom, and then as required to stations to Barrow-in-Furness at 16:20

  • From Whitehaven to Millom, calling at Corkickle, St Bees, Sellafield, Seascale, Drigg, Ravenglass for Eskdale, Bootle, Silecroft and Millom at 14:15

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by approximately 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
