At Moorgate
Description
A fault on a train at Moorgate means that fewer trains are able to run. Trains running to / from this station may be delayed by up to 20 minutes.
Disruption is expected until 20:30.
Customer advice:
If you are travelling to or from Moorgate this evening, please allow at least an extra 15 to 20 minutes to complete your journey.
A train has developed an ongoing fault at Moorgate and is currently blocking one of the two platforms. Services arriving at and departing from the station are delayed, and some trains are being diverted or revised to prevent tunnel congestion.
If you are at Moorgate, please listen to station announcements and check departure screens closely, as trains may depart from different platforms than usual.
Changes to services:
To manage reduced platform capacity at Moorgate, some services will terminate and start back from Finsbury Park, or divert into London Kings Cross.
Because fewer trains can enter the Northern city line, the following stations will have a reduced service until further notice:
Drayton Park
Highbury & Islington
Essex Road
Old Street
Moorgate
Ticket acceptance:
Your ticket will be accepted at no extra cost on:
Thameslink and Great Northern services between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International
London Underground between Finsbury Park, London Kings Cross and Moorgate
London Buses between Finsbury Park and Moorgate

Can you tell me more about the incident?
Earlier this evening, a train developed a mechanical fault after arriving at Moorgate.
The driver carried out initial fault-finding procedures with our Fleet technical team, but the fault could not be resolved from the cab. Specialist fleet technicians (fitters) are attending the train to carry out repairs and prepare the unit to be moved clear of the station.
Because Moorgate is an underground terminus with only two platform tracks, a stationary defective train takes 50% of the station's capacity out of use. Trains cannot be routed around the blocked platform, meaning the remaining platform must handle all arrivals and departures.
To prevent trains queueing inside the single-bore tunnels between Drayton Park and Moorgate, controllers are diverting selected services to London Kings Cross and turning others back at Finsbury Park until the platform is cleared.
