Description

A fire next to the track between Moorthorpe and Swinton means all lines are blocked. Trains running between Wakefield Westgate and Meadowhall may be cancelled, revised or diverted via Barnsley.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice

Network Rail and the Fire Service are on site and the Fire Service is currently tackling the fire.

Where possible, trains will be diverted and as a result will not call at Fitzwilliam, Moorthorpe, Thurnscoe, Goldthorpe, Bolton-on-Dearne, Swinton and Rotherham Central.

You may use your ticket, at no extra cost on Supertram between Rotherham Central, Meadowhall and Sheffield.

Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.

Road replacement transport:

Rail replacement will run as follows:

  • Four 16 seat minibuses will depart South Elmsall at 21:00 and will call at all stops to Swinton (South Yorkshire). Operated by Premier Travel

  • Four 16 seat minibuses will depart Swinton (South Yorkshire) at 21:45 and will call at all stops to South Elmsall. Operated by Mayfair and Solomon

  • Four 16 seat minibuses will depart Swinton (South Yorkshire) at 22:00 and will call at all stops to South Elmsall. Operated by Premier Travel

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
