Description

A safety inspection of the track in the Moorthorpe area means that all lines are blocked. As a result, train services running between Sheffield and York may be delayed up to 15 minutes, cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until 15:00.

Customer advice:

Northern services between Sheffield and Leeds via Moothorpe are unaffected by this issue.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on CrossCountry services between Sheffield and York and also between Wakefield Westgate and York.

Rail replacement is in operation between Moorthorpe and York in both directions. The following buses will run at:

  • 13:00 Moorthorpe to York (Ross Travel)

  • 13:25 York to Moorthorpe (York Pullman)


Journey times will be extended whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, you can travel on any Northern, TransPennine Express or LNER service within 2 hours before or after your cancelled service was due to depart.
