Description

Major disruption is expected until 09:00.

A visual disruption map video is available.

Advice for LNER customers:

If you choose to travel today and your LNER train has been cancelled, you will be able to use your existing ticket on another LNER service up to 2 hours before or 2 hours after your cancelled service. Please make a new seat reservation here.

You can also use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Manchester / London Euston

  • East Midlands Railway between Sheffield and Leicester / London St Pancras International

  • CrossCountry between Sheffield / Doncaster / Leeds / York and Newcastle / Edinburgh

  • TransPennine Express between Edinburgh / Newcastle and York / Leeds / Manchester stations

  • Great Northern and Thameslink between Peterborough and Stevenage / London Kings Cross

  • Grand Central between York and London Kings Cross (please be aware this operator is also affected by this disruption)

  • Lumo between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross (please be aware this operator is also affected by this disruption)

You can view an alternative route map for guidance on rerouting your journey.

Please be aware other operators services are also likely to be busy. If you have a connecting service with another train operator, please contact them directly about your options.

Advice for Hull Trains customers:

Hull Trains services can divert via an alternative route from Doncaster towards London Kings Cross, however delays can be expected. Trains that divert will not call at Retford and Grantham.

However, due to a failed freight train on the diversionary route, Northbound trains from London Kings Cross towards Hull are unable to run and trains will be delayed until further notice. The 07:18 Hull Trains departure from London Kings Cross to Hull will be delayed at London Kings Cross.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on the following services in both directions:

  • TransPennine Express services between Doncaster and Sheffield

  • Northern services between Sheffield and Retford

  • East Midlands Railway services between:

    • Grantham and Nottingham

    • Nottingham and London St Pancras International

  • LNER services between Retford / Grantham and London Kings Cross, once the line re-opens

You should continue to travel as planned; however, your journey may be delayed.

Advice for Lumo customers:

You should continue to travel as planned; however, your journey may be delayed.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on LNER services between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross in both directions, once the line has reopened. (Please be aware this operator is also affected by this disruption).

Please be aware that the other train operators are also likely to be busy. Therefore, please allow extra time for your journey and check before you travel.

Ticket flexibility:

If your train is cancelled, you will be able to travel on an alternative service operated by any other participating train company, either two hours before or two hours after the original departure time of the cancelled service, in order to reach your destination.

If you decide not to travel or cannot complete your journey due to cancellations, you are entitled to a full refund from your original point of sale.

For further information and guidance please contact your train company or speak to a member of railway staff.
