Description

The Met Office are advising that temperatures today are expected to be above average for the time of year.

Highs are forecast to exceed 30°C in London, and similar high temperatures are likely across central and southern England and Wales.

This hot weather is expected to continue throughout this week.

If you are travelling around Greater Manchester it is strongly recommended that you consider whether your journey is necessary.

If you do choose to travel across the Northern network please check before you travel, prepare for longer waiting times, busy trains and short-notice cancellations.

Friday 10 July:

The following routes will have a reduced service:

Greater Manchester

  • Blackburn to Rochdale via Darwen: this hourly service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Southport to Manchester Oxford Road: this service will not be operating. Please use the Southport to Stalybridge service

  • Wigan Wallgate to Leeds: trains will run between Manchester Victoria and Leeds only

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Wigan North Western: 1 train per hour will operate on this route, supplemented by the semi-fast Liverpool to Blackpool North service

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Warrington Central: this service will not be operating. Please use the Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road service

  • Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Victoria: this peak-only service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Wigan North Western to Manchester Victoria: this peak-only service will not be operating

  • Manchester Victoria to Leeds via Bradford: this hourly service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Alderley Edge: this hourly service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Hazel Grove: this service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Buxton: there will be one train per hour

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Rose Hill Marple

  • Manchester Piccadilly to Glossop / Hadfield

Yorkshire

  • Manchester Victoria to Leeds via Bradford: this hourly service will not be operating. Please use alternative trains on the route

  • Bradford / Skipton / Ilkley to Leeds

  • Halifax to Hull: there will be one train every two hours, with additional trains still operating in the morning and evening peak periods

  • Sheffield to Scarborough: trains will run between Hull and Scarborough only

  • Sheffield to Leeds: Yorkshire Flyer fast services will be removed; the stopping service will still run

  • Knottingley to Leeds: there will be one train per hour

  • York to Hull / Bridlington: some trains will run between York and Hull only
