Description

A failure of the electricity supply between Lancaster and Oxenholme Lake District means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains may be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised to start / terminate from Preston.

Network Rail engineers are investigating this issue. Northern and TransPennine Express can now run on diesel mode allowing trains to resume on some lines.

Major disruption is expected until 16:30.

Please note services at Glasgow Central are being disrupted by to damage to the overhead electric wires.

Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

You can use your ticket on the following train companies at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh

  • LNER between London Kings Cross and Edinburgh

  • Northern between Newcastle and Carlisle

  • Northern between Preston and York

  • ScotRail between Glasgow Central / Glasgow Queen Street and Edinburgh

  • TransPennine Express between Preston and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh

  • TransPennine Express between Preston and Manchester Piccadilly

  • TransPennine Express between Manchester Piccadilly and Leeds

Advice for Northern customers:

Train services are unable to run between Lancaster and Oxenholme (in this direction only).

Services that run via Carnforth towards Barrow-in-Furness are NOT affected.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will be requested if the fault continues.

Rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between the following stations :
