Description

There was a fire at Paignton earlier today. This has closed all lines running to / from this station.

The fire has caused damage to the signalling system and the infrastructure around the station. Although the fire has now been extinguished, the nature of the damage means that trains are unable to run between Newton Abbot and Paignton.

This is expected until the end of the day.

Services running between Manchester Piccadilly / Birmingham New Street and Paignton will be revised to operate between Manchester Piccadilly / Birmingham New Street and Newton Abbot only.

You can use your tickets at no extra cost to travel on Great Western Railway's replacement bus services between Newton Abbot and Paignton.

Great Western Railway customer advice:

Services running between London Paddington / Exmouth and Paignton will be revised to operate between London Paddington / Exmouth and Newton Abbot only. This will mean that Torre, Torquay and Paignton will have no train service.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost, in both directions on the following local Stagecoach bus routes:

  • Route 11 between Dawlish Warren station, Dawlish (The Green), Teignmouth and Torquay (Riviera Centre)

  • Route 12: Newton Abbot station, Torre station, Torquay (Grand Hotel) and Paignton bus station

  • Route 22: Torquay (Strand) and Paignton bus station

A limited rail replacement service will shuttle between Newton Abbot, Torre, Torquay and Paignton. Please note, this service is not running to an official timetable.

Please note the surrounding roads at Paignton station are closed for safety reasons. Please check where the nearest pick-up and drop off points will be. For more information, please speak to station staff or use the customer help point located on the platform.
