Description

A safety inspection of the track between Wigan Wallgate and Southport means all lines are closed. As a result, trains between these stations will be cancelled.

Disruption is expected until approximately 14:45.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Wigan Wallgate and Southport in both directions.

Services on the following routes will be affected by this disruption:

  • Between Stalybridge and Southport

  • Between Manchester Oxford Road and Southport

Northern services between Wigan Wallgate and Headbolt Lane are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on Merseyrail services at no extra cost between Southport and Liverpool (in both directions).

Customers can connect onto alternative Northern services from Liverpool Lime Street towards Wigan North Western / Manchester Stations.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
