Description

Following an earlier fault with the signalling system between Workington and Whitehaven, lines have now reopened. Whilst services recover, trains may still be cancelled or delayed.

Disruption between 18:30.

What's happened?

Following disruption caused by a fault with the signalling system, services between Workington and Whitehaven are now able to run.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are now able to run between Workington and Whitehaven (in both directions).

Services between Carlisle and Whitehaven may still be affected by this disruption.

Northern services between Corkickle and Barrow-in-Furness / Lancaster are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport has been confirmed to run as follows:

At 17:10 from Corkickle to Carlisle, calling at Whitehaven, Parton, Harrington and Workington. The bus will then drop customers off as required to Carlisle. Operated by Workington Transport Heritage Trust.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
