TransPennine Express between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh, and also between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central

Description

A broken rail between Penrith (North Lakes) and Carlisle means that the line towards Carlisle is closed. As a result, trains between Oxenholme Lake District and Carlisle may be cancelled or revised. Services may terminate at / start back from Preston, not running between Preston and Carlisle.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Rail replacement buses have been requested to run between Preston and Carlisle. Avanti West Coast and TransPennine Express customers can use these buses at no extra cost.

You may use your ticket on the following services at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry between Birmingham New Street and Edinburgh in this direction only

  • Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle in this direction only

  • ScotRail between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh in both directions

  • TransPennine Express between Manchester Piccadilly and Doncaster, and also between Manchester Piccadilly and York via Leeds in both directions

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

  • Avanti West Coast between Preston and Edinburgh / Glasgow Central

  • Northern between Carlisle and Newcastle

  • Metrolink between Manchester Victoria and Manchester Piccadilly

  • TransPennine Express between Manchester Stations to Edinburgh via the East Coast Mainline

  • TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street to Edinburgh via the East Coast Mainline
