No trains between Lewes and Eastbourne until the end of the day

Description

A safety inspection of the track between Lewes and Eastbourne means that all lines are closed.

As a result, trains are unable to operate between these stations.

This is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

No trains can run between Lewes and Eastbourne until further notice. You will need to use an alternative route to reach your destination.

You should allow at least an additional 60 minutes to complete your journey today.

How are Southern changing their service?

While this disruption is ongoing, Southern will be making the following changes to services:

Trains that normally run between Ore and Brighton will now run between Ore and Eastbourne.

Trains that normally run between Eastbourne and Brighton will now terminate at Polegate and restart back to Brighton.

How do I get between Brighton and Eastbourne?

You can use your ticket on Brighton & Hove buses on route 28 between these stations. Please see the ticket acceptance bellow.

Please be aware this will add between 30 - 60 minutes to your journey today.

How do I get from Eastbourne to London?

The quickest way for you to get from Eastbourne to London is to travel to Hastings on a Southern train. From Hastings you can travel using a Southeastern service to London Bridge.

This will add up to at least 45 minutes to your journey.

Alternatively you can use the Brighton & Hove Bus 28 to Brighton and travel on a Thameslink service from there.

You can travel on the following services at no additional cost;

• Southern services between Brighton, Uckfield and London terminals

• Thameslink services between Brighton and London terminals.

• Gatwick Express services between Brighton and London Victoria

• Southeastern services between Hastings, Tunbridge Wells and London terminals

• Brighton & Hove buses on the following routes

  • 12 between Brighton, Newhaven Town, Bishopstone (Hill Rise), Seaford, and Eastbourne

  • 12A/X between Brighton, Newhaven Town, Seaford and Eastbourne

  • 28 between Brighton (St Peter’s Church), Moulsecoomb (Brighton University), Falmer, Lewes (Post Office / Law Courts), Polegate, and Eastbourne

  • 29 between Brighton (St Peter’s Church), Moulsecoomb (Brighton University), Falmer, Lewes (Post Office / Law Courts), Uckfield, Crowborough, Eridge, and Tunbridge Wells
