Various Northern routes in north west England

Description

The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for heavy rainfall today, Saturday 13 December.

There are further yellow and amber warnings for heavy rainfall on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 December.

Due to severe rainfall this weekend, Northern strongly advise customers not to travel in Cumbria on Sunday 14 and Monday 15 December 2025.

Sunday and Monday

No Northern services will run on the following routes (in both directions):

  • Carlisle to Whitehaven

  • Carlisle to Skipton

  • Corkickle to Barrow-in-Furness

  • Barrow-in-Furness to Preston

  • Windermere to Oxenholme Lake District

  • Carnforth to Skipton

  • Lancaster to Morecambe

Alternative transport will not be provided on Sunday 14 December and Monday 15 December 2025.

Customers who re-plan their journey or experience disruption will be able to use their ticket to travel with another operator if necessary on Saturday 13 December where possible or Tuesday 16 December to get to their destination

Customers with Northern tickets dated Sunday 14 and Monday 15 December who wish to travel on Saturday 13 and Tuesday 16 December are able to do so on Northern train services.
