Description
All lines are blocked between Stockport and Macclesfield because there is damage to the overhead electric wires between these stations. As a result of this, trains are unable to run between these stations and will be cancelled or revised.
Disruption is expected until 14:00.
Network Rail engineers are on site carrying out repairs.
Avanti West Coast customer advice:
Where possible, trains will be diverted via Crewe, not calling at Macclesfield.
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
CrossCountry customer advice:
Where possible, trains will be diverted via Crewe, not calling at Macclesfield or Stoke-on-Trent.
Road transport has been requested to run between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent via Macclesfield but has not yet been confirmed.
You may use your tickets at no extra cost on the following:
Avanti West Coast between Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent
London Northwestern Railway between Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford
You do not need to amend your ticket to use it on these services.
Northern customer advice:
Trains are unable to run between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent.
Road transport has been requested to run between Stockport and Stoke-on-Trent and will run as follows:
12:00 from Stoke-on-Trent calling at all stations to Stockport (operated by Atlantic Travel)
11:00 from Stockport calling at all stations to Stoke-on-Trent (operated by Bestway)
12:30 from Stockport calling at all stations to Stoke-on-Trent (operated by Atlantic Travel)
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
