Description

Heavy rain has flooded the railway between Preston and Lancaster. As a result, trains have to run at a significantly reduced speed on the line from Preston towards Lancaster.

Trains are able to run as normal on the line from Lancaster towards Preston.

Trains running in both directions may be cancelled, revised or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

Additional information:

Network Rail staff have attended the site of the flooding and for safety reason have imposed a speed restriction through the area.
