Route(s) affected
Great Western Railway between Reading / Guildford and Gatwick Airport, and also between Reading and Redhill
Southern between London Victoria and Reigate
Description
A tree on the railway at Reigate is blocking all lines between Redhill and Guildford.
As a result, services operating between these stations may be cancelled or revised to terminate at and start from Redhill.
Disruption is expected until 09:00.
Great Western Railway customer advice:
Your ticket can be used on the following, at no extra cost:
Elizabeth line services between Farringdon and Reading
Thameslink services between Gatwick Airport and Farringdon
If your train is cancelled, you may travel on either of the two services before, or two services after, your original train. If these are peak services or less flexible, you can still travel with your original ticket, at no extra cost.
Southern customer advice:
If you are travelling to / from Redhill, you will need to use an alternative route to travel and allow at least 20 minutes more time to complete your journey.
Trains that normally run between London Victoria and Reigate will terminate and restart at Redhill. This means you will need to change for a Metrobus route 460 service at Redhill to continue travelling to Reigate.
If you are travelling from Reigate, please use Metrobus route 460 to travel to Redhill and connect to train services there.
Tickets are being accepted at no extra cost on:
Alternative Southern trains between London Victoria and Redhill
Thameslink services between Redhill and East Croydon
Metrobus route 460 between Reigate and Redhill

Can you tell me more about the incident?
A tree has been reported on the railway, which is preventing trains from running through the affected section.
As a precaution, trains are being held at stations or signals on approach to the area until the obstruction has been removed and the railway is safe to use. Some services may also need to be cancelled, revised or terminated before reaching their usual destination.
Network Rail staff are arranging to inspect the affected area and remove the tree safely. Once the railway has been confirmed as safe, trains will be able to run through again, although it may take some time for the scheduled service to recover.
Ticket flexibility:
If your train is cancelled, you will be able to travel on an alternative service operated by any other participating train company, either two hours before or two hours after the original departure time of the cancelled service, in order to reach your destination.
If you decide not to travel or cannot complete your journey due to cancellations, you are entitled to a full refund from your original point of sale.
For further information and guidance please contact your train company or speak to a member of railway staff.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
