Description

There is a fault with the signalling system between Carlisle and Skipton, resulting in all lines being blocked. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 60 minutes.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

What's happened?

Services between Carlisle and Skipton are currently being disrupted due to a fault with the signalling system.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are starting to move through the affected area under a reduced speed. The 16:56 Leeds to Carlisle service will now move towards Carlisle. This will allow the 16:17 Carlisle to Leeds service which is at Dent to move forward towards Leeds. The delayed 18:56 Skipton to Carlisle will run.

Services between Carlisle and Leeds will be subject to disruption.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport:

Road transport availability checks are ongoing, but they are proving difficult to source. More information will be provided in due course.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times will be extended whilst travelling by road transport.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:
