Between Manchester Piccadilly and New Mills Central / Chinley / Sheffield

Description

A fault with the signalling system between Manchester Piccadilly and Romiley via Reddish North means that fewer trains are able to run on all lines.

As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted to run via Guide Bridge.

This is expected until 19:00.

Customer advice:

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also use your Northern tickets at no extra cost on the following Bee Network buses:

  • 2, 7, 9, 11, 42A, 42B, 43, 103, 150, 171, 191, 192, 197, 203, 216, 219, 230, 231, 310, 313, 325, 368, 370, 371, 374, 378, 378A, 379, 385

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport has been confirmed to depart from New Mills Central at 16:45 to Manchester Piccadilly, calling at Marple, Romiley, Bredbury, Brinnington, Reddish North, Ryder Brow, Belle Vue, Ashburys and Manchester Piccadilly. This replacement transport will be operated by Bestway.

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 45 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

Network Rail staff are on site and are trying to rectifying the issue with further updates to follow.
