Description

A points failure between Meadowhall and Rotherham Central means that some lines are blocked.

As a result, trains running between these stations towards Rotherham Central may be cancelled or revised.

Disruption is expected until the end of the day.

What's happened?

Services between Meadowhall and Rotherham Central are being disrupted due to a points failure.

Network Rail staff are on site working to rectify this issue.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Meadowhall and Rotherham Central in this direction only.

Northern services between Rotherham Central and Meadowhall are not affected.

What should I do?

Customers wanting to travel to Rotherham Central from Sheffield can travel to Swinton and change there for trains back to Rotherham Central.

Customers at Rotherham Central wanting to travel to stations towards Doncaster and Hull can travel to Meadowhall by train or tram and change there for onward train connections.

Northern ticket holders may travel on South Yorkshire Supertram services between Sheffield - Meadowhall - Rotherham in both directions.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport has been requested to operate between Rotherham and Doncaster / Leeds for last services.

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
