Description
A person has been hit by a train between Royston and Cambridge. Whilst the emergency services carry out their work, all lines between these stations are closed. Trains running between Hitchin and Cambridge may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
Major disruption is expected until 16:00.

If you are travelling this afternoon you will need to use an alternative route to reach your destination. Please allow at least 45 minutes longer than usual to complete your journey.
If you're waiting on a train which is delayed between stations:
If your train is delayed between stations, please remain where you are and listen to announcements, or speak to staff for further information. You'll be on the move as soon as possible. Staff are aware of your location will be doing everything they can to help you continue your journey.
Please don't leave the train unless you are asked to do so. Other trains may still be moving in the area, and the track is also a very hazardous environment.
How the service will be altered:
Services that normally run between London King's Cross and Letchworth Garden City will continue to run, however these services are expected to be delayed.
Please make sure to check your journey before you travel and allow extra time to arrive at your destination.
No services will run between Letchworth Garden City and Cambridge until further notice.

Shepreth

Rail replacement buses have been requested and are on the way to Cambridge and Hitchin now. Once the buses are on site, they will provide a half-hourly shuttle service between Hitchin, Letchworth Garden City, Royston and Cambridge.
For all stations in-between, please press the green emergency button on a help point or speak to station staff for further assistance.
A shuttle train service will run between Cambridge and Kings Lynn.
If you are travelling between this route and London, you can use Greater Anglia services to / from London Liverpool Street at no extra cost. Your ticket will also be accepted on London Underground services to / from London Kings Cross and London St Pancras International for onwards connections.
Alternatively, you can use your ticket on Greater Anglia and Cross Country services between Ely and Peterborough. From Peterborough, you can reach onwards connections to Hitchin, Welwyn Garden City and London.
Thameslink services that normally run between Brighton and Cambridge have been suspended.
You can travel using alternative Thameslink services between Brighton and Hitchin. For journeys to / from Cambridge, it is recommended you use Greater Anglia services to / from London Liverpool Street. Your ticket will also be accepted on London Underground services to / from London Kings Cross and London St Pancras International for onwards connections.

London Underground services between London stations, including London Liverpool Street for access to Greater Anglia services towards Cambridge
London Buses between London Bridge and Finsbury Park
Alternative Thameslink and Great Northern services, including between Peterborough and London.
Greater Anglia services between London Liverpool Street, Ely and Peterborough
Cross Country services between Cambridge and Peterborough

55 between Stevenage and Letchworth
98 / 97 between Hitchin and Letchworth / Baldock
