Description

All lines are closed between Preston and Ormskirk whilst the emergency services deal with an incident. To allow them to carry out their work safely, no trains can currently run through the area.

Disruption is expected to continue until the end of the day.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Preston and Ormskirk (in both directions).

Northern services on the following routes are not affected

  • Between Preston / Wigan North Western and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Between Southport and Wigan Wallgate

What should I do?

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Merseyrail services between Ormskirk and Liverpool in both directions until end of the day.

Rail replacement transport has been requested to operate between Preston and Ormskirk in both directions as follows:

  • 22:35 from Preston to Ormskirk calling at Croston, Rufford, Burscough Junction and Ormskirk - Operated by Phantom Travel

  • 23:10 from Ormskirk to Preston calling at Burscough Junction, Rufford, Croston and Preston - Operated by Phantom Travel

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
