Can you tell me more about the incident?
A train has developed a fault and needed to be removed from service, leading to cancellations on the Eastbourne/Ashford route.
Trains need to meet strict safety and operating standards before they can carry customers. When a fault occurs, the train may need to be taken out of service so that the problem can be investigated and repaired.
Trains are normally scheduled to operate several journeys throughout the day. When one is taken out of service, it can affect multiple journeys, as the train is no longer available to operate its next scheduled services.
Unfortunately, a replacement train may not always be immediately available. This means some services will need to be cancelled or revised, while others may be busier than usual.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner.
For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility and bicycle information, please use our Rail Replacement Services page.

Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
