Description

Following a fault on a train between Salford Crescent and Manchester Oxford Road, all lines have now reopened. As service recovers, trains running between these stations may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.

This is expected until 21:15.

Northern customer advice:

Northern services between Manchester Oxford Road and Liverpool Lime Street via Warrington Central and between Manchester Airport and Manchester Piccadilly are not affected.

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on TransPennine Express services between Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Piccadilly via Warrington Central at no extra cost.

You can travel on Manchester Metrolink services between Manchester Victoria and Rochdale at no extra cost.

You can also travel on Transport for Greater Manchester bus services, at no extra cost, on the following routes in both directions:

  • Manchester to Salford and Bolton – 8, 36, 37

  • Manchester to Wigan – V1 (to Leigh), 610 (to Wigan)

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
