Description
The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for the morning of Friday 23 October, covering large parts of southern Wales and south west England. The warning, for strong winds, may cause some disruption from the start of service through until around midday.
Please be aware that weather warnings, including locations and timings, may change as the forecast evolves - we will update this message once more is known.
Please check your entire journey before you travel. When using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner, please take note of any Service Updates that may be showing with a warning triangle on your journey.
The forecasted weather may cause trains to be disrupted:
High winds can mean trains have to run at slower speeds than usual to operate safely
Strong winds can also bring down trees and other debris that blocks tracks and damages power lines
Additional information:
Strong west to north-westerly winds may spread across southern parts of Wales and England on Friday 23 October. Gusts of 50-60 mph are possible and some coastal or exposed areas could see 70 mph or more, but at this time there is uncertainty in where the strongest winds will be. There will be some periods of heavy rain which will make travel more difficult. Whilst it will remain breezy the winds will probably ease late morning into the early afternoon.
