Description

Disruption between Motherwell and Lanark / Carstairs has now ended.

The earlier fire next to the track in the Shieldmuir area has now been extinguished, allowing all lines running through this station to reopen, and signalling in the area to be restored.

Due to the level of disruption caused by this incident, trains running between Motherwell and Lanark / Carstairs may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes, revised or diverted via Shotts through until the end of service today.

ScotRail customer advice:

You may use your ticket to travel on alternative ScotRail services via any reasonable route at no extra cost.

Rail replacement transport is in operation between Motherwell and Lanark.

TransPennine Express customer advice:

You may use your ticket on the following at no extra cost:

  • Alternative TransPennine Express services between Edinburgh and Manchester Airport

  • Avanti West Coast services between Edinburgh and Preston

  • ScotRail between Glasgow Central and Edinburgh
