Between Leeds and Carlisle

Description

Due to lightning damaging the signalling system between Skipton and Carlisle all lines are blocked. Train services running through these stations will be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes, or terminated at and started back from Skipton.

Disruption is expected until 12:00.

Customer advice:

Services between Skipton and Carlisle are currently being disrupted due to lightning damaging the signalling system. Train services are unable to run between Skipton and Carlisle (in both directions).

Services between Leeds and Carlisle may be cancelled or terminated at and started back from Skipton.

Northern services between Leeds and Morecambe are not affected.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can travel on the following operators and routes at no extra cost:

  • Avanti West Coast services between Carlisle and Preston - To connect with alternative Northern services between Preston and Leeds

  • TransPennine Express services between Newcastle and Leeds, and also between Lancaster and Carlisle for passengers to connect with Northern services between Lancaster and Leeds.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Road transport has been requested to operate between Skipton and Carlisle:

  • 10:05 Skipton calling all stops to Carlisle (3 x 16 seaters operated by Phantom Travel)
