Description

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Smethwick Galton Bridge and Coseley is causing disruption to journeys between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled or delayed by up to 30 minutes.

This is expected until 21:00.

Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:

Tickets will be accepted at no extra cost on CrossCountry services between Birmingham New Street and Manchester Piccadilly.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

Advice for CrossCountry customers:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services:

  • West Midlands Railway services between Birmingham New Street and Wolverhampton

  • London Northwestern Railway services between Birmingham New Street and Stafford

  • Avanti West Coast services between Birmingham New Street and Stafford


If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost

Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them.
