Description

Lines have now reopened following a points failure at Smithy Bridge. Whilst service recovers, trains running between Todmorden and Manchester Victoria may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or diverted.

Disruption is expected until 15:00.

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Northern tickets may be used at no additional cost on the following Bee Network bus services:

  • 17, 17A, 18, 41, 115, 116, 135, 149, 159, 163, 435, 436, 456, 457, 458 and 471

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

How does this affect my journey?

Services will be diverted between Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria via an alternative route. Trains diverting via this alternative route will be unable to serve the following stations:

  • Brighouse

  • Sowerby Bridge

  • Mytholmroyd

  • Hebden Bridge

  • Todmorden

  • Rochdale

TransPennine Express are diverting services between Leeds and Manchester Victoria via Bradford Interchange and Halifax due to ongoing engineering works between Leeds and Deighton.

What should I do?

To help you complete your journey, rail replacement transport has been requested to run between Huddersfield and Manchester Victoria.

The road transport are to depart from Huddersfield in place of the cancelled train service. The road transport will call at the following stations:

  • Brighouse

  • Sowerby Bridge

  • Mytholmroyd

  • Hebden Bridge

  • Todmorden

  • Rochdale

The first road transport to depart from Huddersfield is expected to be on site from 11:15.

Please see station information posters for the location of rail replacement pick up points and be advised that journey times may be extended by 90 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
