Disruption is expected until 19:00.

A visual disruption map video is available.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

Rail replacement coaches are running between Crewe and Stafford.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on:

  • CrossCountry between Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham

  • Northern between Preston and Manchester Piccadilly / York, and between Newcastle and Carlisle

  • TransPennine Express between Glasgow Central / Manchester Piccadilly and Preston

  • LNER between Edinburgh and London Kings Cross

  • West Midlands Railway between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street

Additionally, if your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

CrossCountry customer advice:

If the train you were due to travel on is cancelled, you may use your existing ticket, at no extra cost, on the two CrossCountry services operating before or after your cancelled service.

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on:

  • The two CrossCountry services operating before or after your cancelled service

  • Avanti West Coast services between Manchester Piccadilly and Birmingham New Street

  • Northern services between Manchester Piccadilly and Stoke-on-Trent

  • London Northwestern services between Crewe - Birmingham New Street

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption, and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this, at no extra cost.

Any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but coaches B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available), so you are advised to head to them.

London Northwestern Railway customer advice:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on rail replacement between Crewe and Wolverhampton via Stafford and Stoke-on-Trent in both directions until further notice.
