Description

Storm Amy is expected to bring very strong winds and heavy rain to many parts of Scotland from mid-afternoon on Friday 3 October until the end of the day on Saturday 4 October.

Yellow and amber weather warnings have been issued by the Met Office and you are strongly advised to check your whole journey before you travel.

As a result, CrossCountry and LNER services running north of Edinburgh may be disrupted until the end of the day on Saturday 4 October.

Advice for CrossCountry customers:

From 18:00 on Friday 3 October and all day on Saturday 4 October, no CrossCountry services will operate between Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dundee and Aberdeen.

Additionally, if you are travelling on any train to or from the North East and Edinburgh on the affected days, please check before you travel and allow extra time for your journey as there could be additional disruption as a result of the poor weather.

Advice for LNER customers:

If you are travelling to / from stations north of Edinburgh from now until Sunday 5 October, please note that the timetable may be subject to change and delays are expected. There are some rail replacement buses running on the evening of Friday 3 October between Edinburgh and Aberdeen.

If your LNER service north of Edinburgh has been cancelled, you do not need to rebook or amend your original ticket. Due to Storm Amy, if you're unable to travel on an alternative service on the same day, you can:

  • Travel on an alternative LNER service anytime up to and including Tuesday 07 October. We highly recommend making a new seat reservation for your journey which can be done via the LNER website.

  • If you no longer wish to travel, you'll be entitled to a full refund from your point of purchase. If you booked direct on the LNER App or Website then please log in to your LNER Account and claim a refund from within the booking itself.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
