Description
The Met Office have issued yellow weather warnings for snow and ice which cover the Avanti West Coast network. These will be in place until the end of the day.
Storm Goretti brought ice, strong winds and snow to parts of England and Wales. The amber weather warning has now ended, however, the severe weather will continue throughout today.
You are strongly advised to check your journey in full on either of the affected days, and check our Status and Disruptions page if your journey involves travel with other train operators.
Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:
Avanti West Coast will be running an amended timetable across all routes until 15:00, at which time they aim to resume normal service. If possible, it's strongly recommend you travel after 15:00.
If you have an Avanti West Coast ticket dated Thursday 8 or Friday 9 January, you can use it to travel on the same route on any date up to and including Monday 12 January, at no extra cost. The timetable reduction is currently until 15:00 today, as this is when the worst of the disruption is expected.
You can use your ticket at no extra cost on London Northwestern Railway between Milton Keynes and Crewe. Please note that London Northwestern Railway are running a reduced service between these stations.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
