Description

The Met Office have issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow and ice which cover the LNER network. These will be in place until Friday 9 January.

Storm Goretti has been named and will bring ice, strong winds and snow to parts of England and Wales.

You are strongly advised to check your journey in full on either of the affected days, and check our Status and Disruptions page if your journey involves travel with other train operators.

Advice for LNER customers:

LNER are monitoring the weather and working with Network Rail to understand how this may impact the rail network. There are currently no changes to the LNER timetable in reaction to Storm Goretti on either Thursday 8 or Friday 9 January.

If you no longer wish to continue with your travel plans on either Thursday 8 or Friday 9 January, you can claim a full refund via the same method you purchased your ticket originally.

LNER services between Edinburgh and Aberdeen are now able to run following heavy snow. However, you are still advised to check before you travel.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
