Across the TransPennine Express network
Description
The Met Office have issued yellow and amber weather warnings for snow and ice which cover the TransPennine Express network. These will be in place until Friday 9 January.
Storm Goretti has been named and will bring ice, strong winds and snow to parts of England and Wales.
You are strongly advised to check your journey in full on either of the affected days, and check our Status and Disruptions page if your journey involves travel with other train operators.
The following alterations have been confirmed. Please be aware that across the network, trains that do run may be delayed, cancelled or altered at late notice due to the severe weather.
Between Manchester and Sheffield via Stockport
The route between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield via Stockport is closed until the end of the day on Friday 9 January. During this time, no trains will operate on this route.
During this closure, services between Liverpool Lime Street and Cleethorpes will run only between the following stations, in both directions:
Liverpool Lime Street and Manchester Oxford Road
Sheffield and Cleethorpes
Be aware that due to the weather conditions, there will be no rail replacement buses running between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield in both directions.
What should I do?
Due to the forecast given, you cannot travel between Manchester Piccadilly and Sheffield in either direction after 18:00 today and all day on Friday 9 January because there will no trains running and no replacement buses.
If your ticket is dated for travel today, 8 January or Friday 9 January, you may instead use it up to and including Monday 12 January (and until 04:29 on Tuesday 13 January).
After this time, East Midlands Railway and Northern services will also be unable to operate on this route.
While the disruption is on going, you may also use your ticket at no extra cost on on the following routes, in either direction from 16:00 until 8 January:
From Manchester Piccadilly you can use your ticket to travel on any alternative TransPennine Express service towards Huddersfield, Leeds and York
LNER services between York / Leeds and Doncaster
CrossCountry services between York and Doncaster
Northern services Huddersfield / Leeds and Sheffield
Northern services from Leeds and Doncaster
Alternatively, if the train you intended to travel on is cancelled or you are unable to complete your journey then you can apply for a refund from your point of purchase.
